My friend Hubert Paz of Davao City sent me this forwarded message and I find it very amusing. I took the liberty to publish these pictures in my blog so that we can have a respite of the continuos economic hardships that we are faced with.

You stop driving SUV and take a bike to work. Public officials should set examples. Aramid ti pakitaan barok!. Bike to Work Day http://www.asianweek.com/2008/05/14/bike-to-work-day-rolls-into-town-may-15/
How a small city officials can afford to buy expensive SUV’s with their salary? I smell something fishy here. Driving SUV’s is not a problem as long as they can afford to buy expensive gas. I meant not at the expense of taxpayers’ money. There should be a lifestyle check for Vigan City Hall officials.
Thank you for your comments. No public official of Vigan is driving a SUV. I agree with you, we should minimize the use of motor vehicles. It should start from the national government, the local government will always do its share. Furthermore, the city's gasoline expenses are at reasonable levels.
We are always open to lifestyle checks. We have nothing to hide.Maybe you are referring to Non-Vigan officials.

Dear Mang Esting and Ross,

Re: No public official of Vigan is driving a SUV.
Are you 100% sure Mr. Ranches? You may eat your own words soon.
Why wait for national government to start with? At grassroots level can do their share to save gas.
YES! I know one councilor who owns a SUV but he does not use it anymore, he prefers to ride in a motorcycle or tricycle.
OK, identify yourself and we'll work together to save gas. We don't have to argue with each other. Let's just do it! Thanks for reading my blog.
